John Talarico

John Talarico (1943-2000 RIP)

John Talarico earned a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Boston University as well as a Masters degree in Theory and Composition from The School for the Arts, Boston
University and independently studied for at least four years both keyboard and jazz harmonies with Ray Santisi of The Berklee School of Music. And, Santisi Bio.

Active on reeds and keyboards, John performed in varied symphonic, chamber, theater, and jazz settings and frequently composed and arranged for a similarly diverse spectrum of ensembles. John spent his professional career as an instrumental music instructor in the public school system of his native Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Bob Amato met John Talarico in 1968 when John invited Bob to play lead trumpet in the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra which John founded in 1968.

Bob also performed with John routinely every summer (with the exception of 1973) from 1968-1974 with the summer stock theatrical season orchestra of the world famous, Williamstown Theatre Festival.

John’s skills as a jazz alto sax player, pianist, and arranger/composer were off the charts.
