Bernhardt Shibui Furniture
Bernhardt (Flair Division) Shibui Hardwood Furniture
Manufactured from the
1979 to around 1986
Founded in 1889, for 137 years, Bernhardt Furniture Manufacturer is considered a premier furniture manufacturer in the United States. The Bernhardt Flair Division Shibui Asian Inspired Collection is considered to be the most exceptionally beautiful, and exquisitely crafted hardwood furniture that Bernhardt has ever manufactured.
I purchased this furniture in 1986 from Lou Ripner’s Compass Furniture which was one of the three largest furniture stores that continues to serve the New Orleans area under multi-generation ownership. In 1986, Compass Furniture was one of only three authorized Bernhardt Furniture dealers in Louisiana. Compass Furniture was the only authorized retailer of the high-end Bernhardt Flair Division Shibui Asian Inspired Collection in the entire State of Louisiana.
In 1986, I paid approximately $40,000 including sales tax for the Bernhardt Shibui Furniture I am not offering.
According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistic CPI Inflation Calculator, $40,000 in January 1986 is worth $120,515.69 on March 1st, 2026.

NOTE: I did not purchase the Bernhardt Shibui Mirrored Dresser because my French Quarter Royal Street apartment was not large enough. This was the only piece in the entire Bernhardt Shibui Furniture 1986 that I did not purchase.
